The BirminghamBusinessJournalhonored six Culverhouse College of Commerce alumni at its annual CEO Awards
ceremony in Birmingham in December. Overall, 11 University of
Alabama alumni received recognition.
“The winners and finalists are an outstanding group of executives
who have set the bar high in their businesses and industries,”
said Dr. J. Michael Hardin, dean of UA’s Culverhouse College
of Commerce. “I’m proud that they are alumni of Culverhouse
and proud that they represent some of the best and brightest of
Alabama’s business leaders.”
The winners from Culverhouse include Manderson MBA
graduates and are Grayson Hall (1980), Regions Financial Corp.,
Large-Business CEO (101 or more employees); Edward K. Aldag
Jr. (1986), Medical Properties Trust Inc., Midsize-Business CEO
(25–100 employees); and Krista Conlin (1999), KC Projects, Rising
Star CEO (under age 40).
Finalists include Jim Cunningham (1979), Warren Averett,
Large-Business CEO; Ron Sparkman (1990), Federalgraphics,
Small-Business CEO ( 1–25 employees); and William B. White IV
(2001 Manderson graduate), Gabby, Rising Star CEO.
Other UA alumni finalists and winners include Elam P. Holley Jr.
(1972 College of Arts and Sciences), First Partners Bank, Small-Business CEO winner; Jade Carter (1985 College of Education), The
Horizons School, Nonprofit CEO finalist; Gary Edwards (1971 A&S
and 1972 and 1983 Education), United Cerebral Palsy of Greater
Birmingham, Nonprofit CEO finalist; Shannon S. Riley (1996 A&S),
One Stop Environmental, Midsize-Business CEO finalist; and Josh
Wright (1972 A&S), Hollis Wright, Small-Business CEO.
