Brian Adams
“Most of the winners are in the
technology business, and I really don't
understand those,” Adams says. “Most
of my companies have concrete floors
and blue-collar workers.”
As he talked about awards, the mile-
a-minute champion of the “next thing,”
admits that “being a husband and father
has been the most rewarding award.” He
adds, “My wife, Kelly, is a lot cooler than
I am. Our boys are all red heads and
ages 7, 5 and 2. I don’t care if they don’t
wind up doing what I did. I just want
them to be men of character, and I want
them to be passionate about something,
whatever it is. I’m going to support their
interests.”
That is far in the future. What is
nearer is knowing and caring about each
employee and helping them to set goals
and to work better. And it’s all about
moving forward.
“I like the thrill of the build,” Adams
says. “When I was young, I didn't want
to be a professional football player or a
postman. I wanted to do exactly what I'm
doing now. I wanted to have a collection
of companies, and I wanted to build and
grow them. I knew.”
